It’s so rainy today. I don’t like it.  It’s also FREEZING.  I wish my parents would turn on the freaking heat. I seriously feel like I’m frozen to the core all the time.  It’s supposed to warm up this weekend but also rain. The, next week back to the cold weather.  Ugh!! Isn’t it supposed to be warm?

I planted my garden the other day, so that will def. appreciate the rain.  My strawberries came back nicely and we have had quite a few flowers.  I’m hoping that we will have a nice harvest this year.  This year, I planted: tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, beans, peas, onions, cauliflower, carrots, and lettuce.  I also planted a couple pumpkin plants with my little brother.  I hope we get at least one nice pumpkin we can carve or display at Halloween.  He will be so happy.  Oh, we planted a couple apple trees and pear trees last spring, so hopefully we get some of those too!  We had a couple baby apples on the trees last year, but of course my brother ripped them off long before they were ready.  He is older now, so hopefully he will leave them alone!

Our chickens are also laying eggs nicely again.  They had pretty much stopped all winter because Dad didn’t ever get around to putting the supplement light out there.  They stop laying eggs when they don’t have enough hours of light.  Oh well. Hopefully he will put it out next winter…we had to actually buy eggs this winter :(

I think it’s cool to live in town but have a garden in chickens.  A lot of people don’t even know you can, but you can.  It’s pretty cool to be able to raise your own eggs and veggies.  It makes it more fun to eat. Like, “yeah…I grew this!”
